accused of selling stolen goods... please help

if a buyer comes back and says "I have been advised that the goods may be stolen" and says they have told ebay about it, what rights do IU have as I can prove the item is not stolen as have recipt etc that has serial number on it.

I just hate being accused of this and the fact that they say they have told ebay before asking me. is it libel?

Send them nothing. You have nothing to prove. An email to the buyer to ask who advised them it was stolen is in order though.

Saying they have informed ebay is meaningless. Unless they have opened a dispute nothing is happening. As Macfly you have nothing to prove. Let them make any moves not you

Send them a polite message through the ebay messaging system, saying you cannot understand why they would think the item could be stolen, that you have the original receipt for the item with the serial number on, and that you will more than happily supply a scanned copy of that to ebay, should ebay wish to see it.
If they do contact ebay, they may be advised to contact the police.
Sit back and do nothing more unless ebay or the police get in touch, in which case respond quickly with the relevant information.

Don't get stressed about it - they're just trying it on ! :-)

ebay have no right to see it either. Conciliatory messages to someone accusing you of a crime with no foundation? Don't think so.

I'm slightly confused at the original post. The OP says "If the buyer...."

Why would the OP thing the buyer might come back with an accusation? ^^

the buyer did come back claiming such a thing and I am just asking for peoples opinion. It is upsetting as they bought the item at 4pm and as I was on way to postoffice to mail items I packed their item and sent it so they got it at 10am the next day. they left me good feedback saying how quick it was then two days later came back with "I have been advised the item may be stolen" now if that does not upset any of you then I am sorry but it did me.

as such I am unsure what to do. they are demanding refund to include the postage they have paid. I am tempted to say hell no.

Just ignore them if they open a dispute they will have to return the item if they win. You have FB so no worries there. Also put them on your blocked bidders list

    They're trying it on
