Will o2 Give Unlock Code For iPhone

I bought my iPhone from ebay around november time 2009.
It was originally bought on the o2 network by previous owner. Since then i've been using my o2 sim in it.

My contract is about to end soon and may be switching networks.
Would I be able to pay o2 the £15 and get this unlocked even though I didnt originally purchase this from new?

I'm on a 18month contract with o2 (not the official iphone contract)

Only thing you an do is call and ask.

However the original purchaser may have to pay off more of the contract before they will it it's not at it's minimum term.

You can ask but they usually charge £24 I think. I take it it is already locked to O2 otherwise they won't do it for you.

Did u have to pay for the unlock or was it free mate?

if you have a look at the o2 website info it says unlock is free,obviously you still need to honour your contract.
ideal if you are going abroad get a payg sim from country you visit and get cheap calls.
