All illegal download sites do, is allow you to share your music (legally owned of not) with people who haven't paid for it. This is what the music industry is all up in arms about.
What you're suggesting is exactly the same thing?
Technically no I've paid what ever for a track so if gemini wants to buy it off me for a fraction of the price then I think thats fair enough. I'm not on about the illegal sites that are available.0 -
Also, OK you buy a CD and no longer want it. You sell it on Ebay and make a profit. Is that illegal?:heart2::heart2::heart2: I LOVE MY BEAGLE! :heart2::heart2::heart2:0

Probably to some people yeah I guess so but to me no. I've made my own cd's plenty of times I've put music on my ipod and then put it on my mums ipod for her I guess thats illegal too :beer:0 -
No its not but the medium you're using, ie internet file sharing IS illegal.
This is why...
Selling a physical music cd that you no longer want is not illegal because you will no longer own the music. ie there is only one copy which you are passing on.
Selling a music file via the internet is illegal because there will then be 2 copies where once there was only 1. If you send gemini your file and then delete it from your computer, then if you want it again pay for it, that would be ok I guess?
I didnt make the law im just explaining how I interpret itWhat matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
The problem is there are no guidelines for this, Ive been doing that kind of stuff like, Forever! I used to tape the top 40 off the radio on a Sunday night, have I been breaking the law since I was 8 yr old?:heart2::heart2::heart2: I LOVE MY BEAGLE! :heart2::heart2::heart2:0

Sorry but there are guidelines, in fact they are laws. Copying from radio is OK but only for your own use.
The difficulties arise when you use them for public entertainment.
In fact shops even need a licence to play a radio where customers can hear it.This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Oh for gods sake. Just download them. It sounds like you will anyway and as long as you don't get caught you're fine. I've downloaded many files and movies before. I just think that this is an unnessesary arguement that is brewing. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

I'd call it an arguement brewing
But then that's a whole other "Discussion" right there
If you give me a list of the songs you want by PM I'll see what I can do for you. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
At the end of the day when the songs are your iPod who's going to know if they're from CDs you owned or from a real dodgy foreign file sharing site. Either way you're probably breaking laws once they move from you listening to them privately to playing in public. If you're in a venue that already plays music they'll have the PRS licence, though some venues are stricter about playing iPod music - I do know of one person banned from doing that. I assume you're playing it through the DJs own gear? That'll probably be fine with the venue but I also know of places who've not let a karaoke guy set up as he hadn't got all his gear PAT tested. Probably won't be an issue if your DJ does it for a living but just to be aware0
