Even if you download them legally, it may still be illegal to play them in a public venue without paying royalties. check with your venue.

Erm why were you so worried about downloading them illegally from a stranger, which is what share sites are....

And then agree to download them from someone you dont know on an internet forum?? How does that suddenly make it legal??

    Whats the bloomin difference?

    Both are illegal!

To echo neneromanova, emailing the OP tracks is filesharing, which isn't legal.
OP - I'd say something like spotify is your best bet - a tenner for all the tracks you want is good value IMO

File sharing in whatever form is illegal. I dont normally pipe up, but had to chuckle that one type of illegal sharing was acceptable over the other :D

Thanks for your replies. Interesting subject/Grey Area. Pickle Pick I was just thinking that actually. We are still sharing the music lol! When you buy the music you are meant to be the End User. The person emailing me the music would get into trouble for sharing, not me? Anyway, just seen something on Spotify, a day pass for 99p? Not sure if you can download the music though? (you must be able to because I have the free version where you can listen to as much of the music as you want at any time but cant download it) Does anyone do this? Maybe I will email Spotify.......................

Surely enough if I've downloaded tracks that I've paid for I can share them with who ever I like I've paid for it. If you lot want to be technical how about gemini pays us 1p per track if you feel the need to pay for it. :)

    Because it's illegal.

All illegal download sites do, is allow you to share your music (legally owned of not) with people who haven't paid for it. This is what the music industry is all up in arms about.
What you're suggesting is exactly the same thing?

Yes but the DJ should have a licence. The venue also must have their own licence, maybe theirs would cover you hence my advice to check with them.
