Burns, James Wellbeloved are always favourites but there are others. I use a mix of three with mine, including a wet pouch from James Wellbeloved to give a bit of interest.

it was burns high= energy lamb that i was recommended, but my dog does not seem to eat much of it, will this be because she was fed on lower quality food with more adatives in it and she is just needs to get use to the new food as i have been mixing in beta and she seems to like this more

Burns always seemed to have a huge amount of rice in, £40+ for a food that's 63% rice is a bit pricey I think.

The best dry dog food? Orijen without doubt. 75% meat 25% fruit and veg, thats all, no fillers, no crap. It's £50 per bag, but given the fact its such high quality you feed much, much less than other foods, so it works out the same, or actually cheaper to feed per day.

I'm not a fan of JWB since they were taken over by master foods, the same company that make pedigree, bakers etc. Plus I'm hearing more and more reports of dogs with upset tummies and horrific gas on it, main reason I'm not a fan is my dogs were awful on it.

If you're not looking to spend Orijen money check out Arden Grange, Skinners (either duck and rice, salmon and rice or lamb and rice), CSJ, Vitalin are all good foods.

My dog did really well on Fish4dogs - but that is £40 a bag.

I've moved him to Wagg and he does nearly as well for about a tenner a bag :)

Orijen, CSJ and Fish4Dogs all have a good reputation - but then again, a lot of it is down to what suits your dog - if the dog enjoys it and is healthy, is not hyper, has regular, firm stools, a shiny coat, good muscle tone and is an appropriate weight I would use that as the main judge.

Wagg suits my dog (but so does anything) and my mums lurcher looks well on it - the vet said it was fine and keep her on it as it suits her sensitive tum, and my last dog lived to 16/17 on it... with my current dog, I have tried a few others and occasionally buy a 'light' food as my dog tends to enjoy her food a bit too much though!

been looking at the skinners web page and there range looks like a good and sensibly priced so might try getting some of it as it seems to be a more natural alternative to the like of beta and is the same price

Make sure you stick to the hypo-allergenic ones, the field and trial duck and rice, the salmon and rice and the lamb and rice (off the top of my head, if you email skinners they can tell you which other ones). Check out vetuk the duck and rice is about £18 per 15kg bag.
