speed camera detectors

I bought one some years ago and it's paid for itself many times over.
Let's cut to the chase. The vast majority of these cameras have nothing to do with road safety. They are just revenue raising devices.
Councils and police forces were relatively uninterested in them until things changed and they were allowed to keep the money. Which says it all really."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
Have a look at

I don't know if they work particuarly well, the laser speed cameras only fire the laser when they measure you, so it's a bit late then. I liked the look of the micro fusion.
(the jammers make an interesting read though)0 -
I have never been caught by a speed camera and do not understand how people don't see them! Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?0

Plenty of laser jammers are legal as their primary purpose can be for opening electric gates, electric garage doors or for parking sensors. More and more new cars are being fitted with adaptive cruise control which on some cars combine laser and radar and can confuse some laser cameras. The man without a signature.0

Anything which detects radar etc is illegal.
There is no specific law which says so however. What the government did was to bring a test case using another unrelated law which they then bent hopelessly out of shape to cover it."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
The first line of defence is observation and cunning. Choose your locations to "reinterpret" the limits carefully. Fixed cameras are easy to spot. Camera vans are usually easy to find. Unmarked patrol cars are less easy.
Let someone else go a bit faster than you - try to merge into the general flow. Stick to limits where it's sensible - urban areas or high risk rurual roads.
As to "don't speed". That would be alright if limits hadn't been revised downwards pretty much everywhere by people not qualified to do so.Happy chappy0 -

I've been looking at the Novus Piccolo for a while now - can be had for less on eBay than in the likes of Halfords.
Tiny unit which could be hardwired and would only need removing for updating - free updates for life....0 -

And that's before the greedy local council gets up to its tricks. I'm put in mind of one stretch of busy road where the council changed the limit between 30 and 40 every few hundred yards. At every change there was a camera.
