Hard drive failure imminent, I have a question!?!

Hi MSE's :hello: I've had to replace my hard drive as it was detected by S.M.A.R.T that the hard drive will imminently fail. The problem is all my data is still on the hard drive and it won't boot up for me to retrieve it :eek: I have the idea disabling the SMART detection may allow me to retrieve some data but my laptop…

The freezer method is probably your best option. Wrap the hd in plastic waterproof bags and leave in there for a few hours. This method often works and gives you enough time to reclaim data before it finally packs up.
