LED tv - but which one.

We would like to buy a new LED tv - pref 40/42" and around the 800 - 1000 mark.
I have a couple of questions about it and wondered if anyone could help.
I am really not sure what the basics are that we need, we would be attaching a Wii, a DVD recorder and the SKY+ box to it (although we will get a HD box) and I don't know if we can use HDMI cables or we have to use the old SCART ones.
Also
What is the Freeview HD like? We have a basic SKY package so is it worth getting rid of that and using Freeview instead? I don't know what the channels are - but it seems that a lot of the tv's now have built in Freeview.
And
We are probably not going to wall mount it but have it in the corner of the room where our old one is - does this make a big difference to what one we have?
We do want the highest spec as possible for the money - i.e 200hz, 1080i, etc
Thanks for your help and recommendations

Hi, if you are considering freeview HD first check your local transmitter is transmitting it yet,HD wont be availalde at some until the digital switchover ,in my area thats 2012. And look for a tv with as many hdmi sockets as possible, theres no point in connecting via scart leads, you might as well buy a cheap tv instead. For the time being it might mean upgrading to SKY+HD, I have basic Sky package (2 selections) , HD, Skytalk (including line rental) and broadband for around £40 per month.0

Hi,
Just a quick note, you know that these TV's arnt pure LED, they are still LCD tellys but the use LED as backlighting. The LG and Samsung TV's use edge LED lighting which means the LEDs are around the edge of the screen the other type of LED lighting is direct which covers the whole of the screen. At the moment i believe Sharp and philips are the only "full" direct LED lighting on the market at the moment.
Hopefully in a couple of years time OLED will become cheaper and be able to produce larger screens.0 -
We tecently got the Samsung UE40B7020 LED, what a fantastic set, very slim fantastic HD quality, good tuner, internet connection with yahoo widgets, ability to play from a USB stick or a HD, you can add a network HD, got wii and xbox attached both perfect, all in all a fantastic TV, downside a touch above your £1000 mark.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! Didnt know where to ask this, but I'm looking for a 32" LCD TV as today my 26" CRT stopped working, preferably as cheap as possible, around the £250 price tag, I've seen 2 via asda online page, these 2,

was thinking of going for the 2nd one at £250 even though the other is FULL HD, as it will only be used by my mum and she wont be using HD TV when it comes out, just the standard 5 channels she watches now. reading the reviews the HD FULL TV is blocky under normal freeview but perfect when using HD.
