Keep your petrol tank full

At the rate of increase of the price of fuel, it makes sense to keep your petrol tank full, so you can put off paying the next price increase for that much longer!

Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
How much is fuel in the UK now?
It's gone from 0,75 euros to just over a euro per litre in the two years I've been in Spain. (So it's now the equivalent of 70p a litre).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

the cheapest around here is 97.9p and diesel is £1.000
-
The extra weight you'll be carrying around will decrease your mpg and may negate any slight rise in the cost of fuel0

Don't forget about all the wasted time you end up spending at the garage topping up the tank.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Well it would depend on how much fuel you consume, if you do a lot of mileage you aint gonna save much as you fill up again in a short while. However as I do very little mileage around 3000 miles wouldnt a full tank make the car heavier and thus consume more fuel.
The best way to save on fuel is look ahead on the road, slow down rather than at last minute and then dont accelerate fast, dont drive fast and make sure you have the correct tyre pressue.0 -
The whole idea is to keep your tank full so that if a price rise comes along you have a full tank of fuel at the old price and therefore delay the effect of the price rise.
You will of course have to pay it eventually, but you can delay the inevitable.
Our vehicle will last well over a month on one tank of fuel if we just do local motoring - and that's on windy, steep Spanish mountain roads.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

But if your car uses 10% more fuel and the price only goes up 5% you're losing money (I think?)0

However....I filled my car up last night at 97.9p litre for diesel. Then heard on the news that the supermarkets are dropping their prices and my petrolprices.com email tells me my local Asda is now 95.9p. Oh pants!!!!:rolleyes:Nil Illegitimi desperandum carborundum

my local morrisons dropped their unleaded from 98.9p to 93.9p yesterday!!!
i've never known a drop of that much on one go - i thought they'd made a mistake as all other garages are still 98.9p.
i filled up straight away as i only had quarter tank left!0
