Shower all the way, unless your fitting a spa bath (which will add even more value)Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.0

get a shower bath we installed one and you have the best of both worlds.0

As we will probably not be moving house for 10-12 years it seems pointless having a bath in it when it would get no use at all.We were thinking of taking the bath out and installing a shower and if in 10 years time it becomes a problem to sell we can just reverse the process.I have not gone into cost properly yet but it does not cost a fortune to do this (I hope)

10 - 12 years is a long time, i would go with the shower, a new bath will cost 200 quid to fit when you decide to sell (just rip out the shower tray and fit the bath)

I'm with Matt on this one. Just make sure that the plumbing is there for when you sell the house in the future.
I moved into a new house a year ago. The builder charged a couple up the road £800 not to install a bath! They too didn't use a bath, but had to pay for the shower...
Shocking...Waddle you do eh?0 -

Where did you hear that? I wouldn't waste money on a spa bath personally, it's one of those things like double glazing that don't actually add any value to your house. They are just for your own convience.
Do you have enough rooom to fit an ensuite shower room then you wouldn't have to worry about cutting your market by two thirds. You would actually add value to the house.0 -
Another angle on the discussion. I found that the shower cubicles in my en suite became really dificult to clean after a number of years.. (lots of mastic on the joins became gungy) and because of my enthusiastic cleaning efforts created a leak on the downstairs hallway. I had the shower cubicle removed and had a small bath fitted which I use with shower curtains. The best of both worlds (and a lot easier to clean) I had the plumber cut a groove out of the wall to fit the bath into so hopefully no more leaksI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0 -
We thought we never used the bath in our old house and as the bathroom was micro we took it out and installed a shower cubicle. Everything was fine until the first winter and we both got the flu. It's times like this when only a bath will do. We took to driving 6 miles to me mams to have a good soak. Now we've got three kids I wouldn't be without a bathLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

IMHO if you have limited space then removing the bath may improve the overall appearance of your bathroom and hence the value of your house. From what you have said though, I would stick with what you have got. Most people when they view a house make a desicion on first impressions. With a bath and a power shower you seem to be onto a winner.0

At the beginning of the year I had a new bathroom and had a shower bath installed. Having such a small bathroom I wanted to make sure I chose correctly. The bath is made by Fordham and is shorter and wider than a standard bath. I have showered since April but I know once winter sets in I can have a good soak too. The bath is only 1500mm long but at its widest point is 900mm wide. It is like sitting in a swimming pool and is very deep. I wouldnt have it any other way. Shower for summer and bath for winter0
