Neighbours parking across our garden path

RANT ALERT
Ok, so there is a small strip of lawn in front of our flat with a path running around it, from our front door, along the outside of our flat and down the edge of the grass to the kerb.
Now I'm lazy and usually park in front of my flat, along the kerb, although it's not a registered space. However, it is parallel to our flat. Next door can't park directly opposite their own flat, because they block the carpark, so they often park in this space too. To be honest, I can bite that bullet, as they should get second priority. Bear in mind, there are two carparks in easy reach, so there's no shortage of space.
Now, my problem is with other people parking there. Whilst I am lazy and don't fancy carrying the shopping round, I also have mental health problems and am up all night. Therefore, I'd rather park in front of my flat where I feel safer (the neighbours don't know this).
However, what annoys me is when someone feels they can snap up that spot, blocking our garden path and to some extent, our tiny garden. It's got to the point that they actually wait by my car while I'm leaving, so they can take my space. I used to have someone double park next to me, in the middle of the road, watching until I left the house so he could nick my spot!
It's so rude, not to mention an inconvinience as it means hauling shopping over next door's flower beds, which they have already re-done once, or using their path which I shouldn't have to. THE most annoying thing is that some of these people actually have a back door leading INTO the carpark!
I would'nt park in front of someone else's property unless I had to, even though it's not their space. When I park in the car park, which some flats have access from, I never park in front of another property, even if they don't use that space. I just think they should have the space available should they wish to use it.
I know it sounds unfair, but I think if I don't use the space, then no-one should. It's inconvinient as it blocks our path and it's just annoying to see someone else's car constantly in front of your property! If I park there, I don't mind walking past my own car as I can move it if I need to, I benefit more from having the space. However, I am inconvinienced if someone else parks there, with no benefit to myself. The use of that space also annoys most of my neighbours who find it difficult to access the carpark. It seems to generate a lot of problems!
Everyone also puts their bins on our kerb and never takes it back to their flat. I don't mind on collection day, but not all week! I may just be territorial, but I think it's really rude!
So am I crazy? Please help it's driving me nuts lol!

I live in a ground floor flat and people park in front and to the side of my property. There is a carpark to the side so there really is no excuse. It drives me mad however, I do not park there.
So although I understand your frustration bearing in mind you park there yourself I am not sure you can complain. However, why not have word with your neighbour? All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -

Unless you in some way "own" that space then it is just one of life's annoyances and not a lot you can do about it.
How do people fill their bins if they leave them out all the time?
Do they come out and put their rubbish in at the front of your place?
Might be worth a word with your local council to see if there are any bye-laws in place about this. I assume that these bins at the front would be causing an obstruction on the footpath.0 -

Hiya,
It's just in a close, it's public highway I guess, but there are no road markings. It's not a private close though. The garden is private, so surely if they're blocking access to my path, they have to budge... it's a big of a grey area.0 -

Hiya, I'm so glad I'm not crazy and someone else gets this lol! I have not said anything to the neighbours yet, but I was considering leaving a note on their car saying you are blocking my path please use the carpark. However, when I park there, they will just say well you do it, so can we. My arguement was that if I park there, I can move my car when I need to, but they block my way. Do you think it will hold?0 -

Hiya, you're right I'm going to call the council it's probably the first step to finding out about this. I have no idea how they put their rubbish out lol, they probably just drag it round. I might put their bins in the middle of the road so they have to move it lol.0 -
Unless you have a dropped kerb, and they are on a public highway, I think there is very little you sadly can do about it.
Unless of course their car is not taxed etc!Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

People like you drive me crazy. It is a public highway. Anyone can park anywere they want as long as they dont breach parking regulations or create an obstruction.
Just because it is in front of your house means nothing. If you want a parking space pay for one or a better house with a garage.
If I was your neighbours I would park there with no intention other than to annoy you.
There is nothing grey about it. It is a public highway and anyone can park there who wants to.0 -

You don't have to be rude I was asking for people's opinion. I have clarified they are obstructing my way and the carpark entrance, so please read posts properly.0 -
Are they blocking your path so that you cant get out ofit, or are you maybe exagerating a tiny bit.
Would you have to climb over thecar to get out.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
