I found this on another website, I know we all from time to time do 51mph in a 50mph zone... but should anyone feel hard done by FOR GETTING CAUGHT 'speeding' UNDER THE LIMIT (this has happened) then perhaps this could be helpful;
1, Ask for the calibration certificate for the last three years of the camera that caught you.
2, If the camera was placed on a pavement or the van was parked on a pavement ask for a copy of the Pavement closure order notice from the local council.
3, If you were captured by a mobile camera find out the exact length the speed camera safety warning notice was displayed away from the camera. (there is a legal set distance to warn you depending on what type of camera it was , Fixed, radar, Mobile, etc, etc)
4, Do not pay the fine right away, Leave it until the last 4 days of your notice, (often 30 days) and then ask for the calibration certificate.

How about you just dont speed?
Slow down when you know a camera is coming up, and stay within the speed limit!
You can still kill someone driving at 30mph!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

When did I say that you should speed?
I know people - and I'm sure their are others - that have been snapped & fined for doing 56 in a 60 limit. Yes, harsh. It's just some harmless, (trying to be money efficient) help.£2 Coin Savings = £0.230 -

Well yes I did, considering doing 51 in a 50mph area is over the limit and therefore speeding!
I'm sorry but I couldnt quite see how informing people how to play the system, when if theyre speeding they deserve to get fined, is in any way jest?
And I'm sure anyone else who has ever be affected by the heartache that speeding motorist causes, wouldn't be laughing either!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I think the normal rule is 10% + 2mph? So on a motorway they won't normally stop anyone doing under 79mph. I believe 30mph or more over the limit is normally the point where fixed penalties no longer apply and a trip to court would be required..0

Ok IMO i think CAFC your being well ott, you could kill a person at 1mph btu thats not teh point!
The vast majority of people speed, yes it doesn't make it right but are you completly infallible (sp)..i somewhat think not.
I personally thank the OP for her tips and whilst i have a clean license if i ever get done for speeding i will most definatly being playing the system because this website is about....
'MoneySaving is about cutting bills not cutting back. It's about being a sassy consumer. Companies try to screw us for profits. MoneySaving shows you how to screw them back' Martin lewis
The government are the worst for screwing us out of money so if we can get them back then so be it!

travelling at exactly 30 outside a school at start/end time in heavy rain is much more dangenous than driving past the same school at 35 in the middle of a clear night - one could get you points on your licence, the other wouldn't...please can the pedants accept that as in everyhting in life their is room for personal responsibility and judgement rather than just moralisingI think....0

Doing 56 in a 60 limit wouldn't get you snapped would it
It Depends, there are several reports from the media of at least one popular device which could be giving false readings.
