Cats bringing in Mice + Birds HELP!!

Hello,

I have got two cats that have started to bring mice and birds in to the house and i was woundering if there was any way you can get them to stop it?
yesterday i had one of my cats bring a dead one in to the bedroom!! we cant stop this because they can open the door.
and then about an hour later my other cat bought in a live one to the living room while we where eating!! we managed to get it off her and set it free. after this she decided to bring in a dead bird!!!
so all together we had 3 things bought in yesterday.

im dreading going home after work to see what they have got in today!!
i have a cat flap that they come in and out of. i can stop it so they can only go out and not in so i could see if they have any thing but for some reason neither of them will go to the toilet outside so we can only do this when we are in.

does any one know of any way to stop them??

Thanks alot

They will got to the toilet outside if you keep them out long enough they are just used to having a tray indoors ( I assume).. , I've had cats for many years and have had all manner of things dead and alive brought in including frogs and toads.. but I never figured out a way to stop them.. but as they get older they seem to lack the skill , mobility or inclination to bother.. sorry its not much help

I have 3, I actually stepped on a baby goldfinch dead on my carpet yesterday! :(

If you have outside cats who are good hunters then I guess you have to live with it!

Wait until you start getting the bunnies, squirrels and rats... oh yes... :rotfl:

Mine have two bells each and they have only ever brought one bird in- I thought bells warned birds so they could fly off? Apparently mine can run faster than most things though....

Yes, my two old cats used to bring live frogs in regularly, especially at this time of year when it can be really wet.
And sometimes they would bring them in and they would escape under cupboards, behind things etc and they would crawl out a day or so later all wrinkled and deshevelled, covered in dust bunnies and need rescuing.
The noise live frogs make when punced on by a cat is incredible, and chilled me to the bone in the middle of the night at times as it is like a scream.
Never found a way to stop em though, sorry!

I read that yes they are either presents to show how much they love you, or they are trying to feed you because they think you are such a rubbish hunter!!! lol. Good luck. My cousin had rats brought in by her cat, they would always be left in the bathroom for her overnight...

Yep live ones and dead ones, my daughter has found mummified frogs under her washing machine before now.. and has often had to get up in the night to rescue a noisy frog from one or other of her moggies... the worst is when you don't realise they are there and a frog suddenly jumps into the middle of the living room rug...

One of mine brought a stoat in once on Christmas Day, a STOAT! It is lying perfectly still (well it was dead) and all it had was some bite marks on its neck!
