I think setting small a cchievable goals is a great way to deal with debt :) I have a small celebration each time I have paid off another £1k :) Same as with dieting - I celebrat every time I loose a bit, but I don't dwell on when I don't so long as I know what went wrong that week then I know I can make sure it doesn't happen again and I stay in control :)

well done dunclane! :j thats exactly where i'm hoping to be next month once i've paid of the next card and can put that money towards halifax which is the next goal! we'll get there eventually, but to keep on top of it i think we have to think like this! :D

i'm exactly the same with the dieting as well! have lost 4lb so far over a few weeks but its all in the right direction! if i had to wait until i'd finished something or reached a big goal to celebrate it would be so demotivating!!

It looks like you are paying down roughly equal amounts to everything. Ideally, you should find the APRs for all your debts and pay minimums on everything except the debt with the highest APR - which is the one you should throw all your money at. [Unless you are really strapped for cash, in which case you should throw everything at the smallest to free yourself from paying minimums on that, until you have enough surplus to throw money at the highest APR]

Hi DVardysShadow! everything apart from the next card is on 0% and i pay about £400 in total a month. i only realised i'd been doing it a bit wrong the other day when looking at someone else's thread! :o i've changed it now so that after the next bill is paid next month i'm on minimum payments to barclaycard and the rest onto halifax plus any extras as this is the 0% which runs out first. it doesn't finish til march next year so hopefully can have that one cleared by then! thank you for your help! :)
