    but i think you will find that winME pc's shipped with office 97 installed
    Windows ME nor any other version of Windows has office installed, unless the system maker has added it. The fact that you have got or used Windows ME machines which has/had Office 97 installed does not mean [/i]all[/i] Windows ME machines did. Some OEM's bundled Lotus or Works (because they were cheaper) or it could they could have bundled Office 2000.

    All versions or Windows > 9x have Word Pad which is something completely different.

    No confusion here.

    oh give it a rest dude....... you are getting boring now

    back in 1998/99 it was common to get a software suite with your new pc and often this included ms office as well as lots of other things.
    and even if you bought office seperatly you could only get office 97 untill 2000.
    so as i posted originaly save as word6 would then be compatable with everything likely to be on a winme pc

    enough said just give it a rest
    if at first you don't succeed then sky diving is not for you.
