Looking to upgrade to HTC Desire
Hi
Here's my situation:
I would like preferrably something along the lines of:
200mins
Unlimited Texts
unlimited internet
18 months
@25-30 p.m
I've read the orange retentions thread and some people have got similar deals with more mins added - I don't mind the 200mins as I use my phone more for texting and internet
I would also prefer an 18month contract as this past 2 years has been very long to be tied down to this rubbish phone I have at the minute - with the camera currently gone on it...
Any tips/advice on haggling with Orange?? Or do you know of anything better on any other networks??
Thanks, I'm kinda new to haggling for upgrades and such - I have read the MSE pages on haggling - but would also like some advice from other people on the forums too
Here's my situation:
- month and half left on orange contract - dolphin 15 (24 months)
- Wanting to upgrade to an HTC Desire
- I know my tariff will increase because of the price of the handset - that's ok
- Trying to get best possible deal I can from the retentions people
I would like preferrably something along the lines of:
200mins
Unlimited Texts
unlimited internet
18 months

I just got mine on Friday, went into Car Phone Warehouse, as they could offer better Orange deals than Orange could.
Free HTC Desire
Panther 30
24 months
£30
400 minutes
Unlimited texts (upto a fair usage policy of 3000 per month)
Unlimited email (upto a fair usage policy of 1Gb)
You may struggle to find 18 month deals.0 -
I was thinking that about the 18month length
But then I read the retentions thread and quite a few of them managed to get 18month contracts - some on less than £30 a month with more mins than I'm looking...0 -
T-Mobile
300 mins
300 txts
£25.00 per month
18 Months
Plus a free Hair Devils Ceramic Tourmaline Styling Iron CHI600 Black

If you check out mobile phones direct website they offer the HTC Desire on Vodafone and T-Mobile on nice contracts.
E.g. Vodafone 100mins, 500 texts unltd web 18months £25 a month
Tmobile 600mins, unltd texts, unltd web, 18 months, £30 a month +£40 FREE ACCESSORIES!
Also, for Dial A Phone, they offer the HTC Desire on Orange for £40 a month for 12 months. 300 mins, 3000 texts, unltd web. This comes supplied with one of them 3 months free line rental offers so if you use the voucher, it would only be (£40 x 9) £360 total cost and a chance to upgrade after 12 months.
If you are specifically wanting the HTC Desire in black though, it may cause problems
My contract runs out in July and I have been scouring the web for the best deals for weeks!

Vodaphone unlimited is going to be capped at 500Mb, there is a big thread on here about it, so be careful with that one0

Not liking the vodafone unlimited capped at 500Mb - I really do want to try and stick with orange if they can offer me a good deal... my fiance is also on orange so it works out well....
What are some tips on trying to get them to offer me a good deal? I haven't really haggled before - I'm worried I will stupidly get trapped into an average or bad deal, just because I'm too shy to haggle! :-S0 -
As we were wanting two phones, a Desire for me and a Nokia N97 mini for himself, we couldn't go to Orange as they don't do the N97 now, that's why we went to CPW, plus we had already spoken to the chap there (my son had just got a PAYG phone), and he had come up with the Panther deal, so we went there for them on Friday.
Contract is still with Orange, and Orange have confirmed that it's 1Gb fair usage policy, (every where I have looked on the Orange site is saying 5Mb)
We wanted to stay with Orange as we have now moved both the kids over to it, and we have their numbers as magic numbers, so we can call each other, call the kids and his lordship's mum, and all the calls are free.
Kids are on the £10 a month Dolphin PAYG, they phone us, hang up and we call them back, doesn't use their credit and doesn't cost us, magic numbers are good!0 -
Got mine on T-Mobile for £25 up front, then £30 per month for 18 months for 600 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited web. (cheaper than getting a free phone over 24 months)0

T-mobile sound good, but I've heard their network coverage isn't great :-S0

Much better than Vodafone. I hardly ever got any reception with Vodafone and left them for exactly that reason. I get full 3G T-Mobile signal where I didn't get any reception at all on Vodafone!0
