Tell me about it Mupette i had the most horrendous school bag imaginable but it was tough i had to use it or go without.
Thankfully she isnt a demanding child she understands financial restraints but it just breaks my heart having to tell her no when all her friends have the nicer things and she works so hard to make me proud :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

My daughter is same age, and loves her Animal bag!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Definitely take her out to choose.
Maybe go out and do a quick look around, so you might be able to steer her towards some when you both go out together.
I think it would be some lovely bonding time together too.0

Argos do some reasonably priced 'Billabong' messenger bags
 A few here http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?pp=20&s=Price%3A+Low+-+High&storeId=10001&catalogId=1500002201&langId=-1&q=MESSENGER0

just had a look on ebay, there are plenty of animal rucksacks new from online sellers for about £15 - £20. May be worth having a look on there, got some very nice pink and purple colours. Don't worry about her not having the most expensive things, as I remember the really expensive ones always went out of fashion eventually, and then everyone would buy a new one again!0

my DD has a messenger bag of her favourite band 30 Seconds To Mars, she loves music though (shes 12 as well).
Does she like Twilight etc? If so Play do some great messenger bags for movies and music:
Now £9.99 as well, it has been £26!

I second the Primark idea! I have a 12 year old girl and she has tons of school bags from Primark - I think they were £6 - £8 each. Cross between handbags and huge overnight type bags. She has animal print ones, leather look ones, sparkly ones. I've also got a couple for work, had them ages and they're still perfect.0
