Awww, thats just rubbish  I can see it happening with OHs lot when we have kids though. They really don't care about birthdays, where as we make more of a deal about it. I know exactly what you mean and I can't believe that you didn't even get a phone call when it's their only grandson/nephews birthday. You couldn't keep me from my niece with a herd of wild horses! Especially on her birthday.
Happy Birthday for little one!
My aunt also informed me on Saturday (when I told her the date of the wedding) that there was no way she would be coming to another wedding. Ours isn't until September next year. Charming. :cool:0 -

I would have replied: "Oh that saves me an invitation and the stamp, thanks for letting me know!"0 -

What a lovely Aunt!
Its not just birthdays though, they never see the baby and they never ask about him ~ they're more interested in their dog.
It's all kicked off now though, OH had a text from his Dad with excuses in it, which I knew would happen and told OH that is what he would do!
OH, bless him has replied and spoke from the heart about why he is so upset.
If that doesn't hammer it home to his Dad, then nothing will.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Aww Happy 1st Birthday to your little boy for yesterday. Families can be weird. If I were you I'd forget them and create your own little happy family. As others have said at least your son won't know about it all. We didn't have DS christened so had a big party for his1st birthday instead, he slept through most of it

aww shell I really hope it all gets sorted, and big hugs to the little one. Maybe encourage OH to invite more of his friends instead of the family so it won't feel like there's too much of your side??Joined Slimming World 19th May 2009

Well, as I said, OH replied to his Dad's text and never heard anything back.
I told him to text him again last night (and then leave well alone if he didn't get a reply), so all he said was 'Thank you for the lack of reply, now you have proved my point'.
His Dad hasn't responded.
I'm so bloody angry, when your child pours his heart out to you, over something you have done, you don't bloody ignore it!
And before anyone asks, OH won't ring his Dad because his Dad won't listen and will hang the phone up, and he won't go face to face to speak to him, because again, he won't listen, so text is the only way to make him listen because he has to actually read it.
20 weeks to the wedding and that's 3 who don't look like they are going to be coming because of being too bloody stubborn to admit they are in the wrong and won't even apologise for it.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

OH told me stuff last night that I didn't know about, like when he's spoken to his Dad on the phone lately (his stepmum hasn't been well), his Dad hasn't asked how the baby is, but has rattled on about how close him and the dog are??????
They've seen the baby 3 times since he was born. (Mind you I can count on one hand how many times I've met him in 8 years!)
We moved house in March, OH and my Dad took a week off work and 4 of my uncles and some cousins helped decorate and move us.
His Dad couldn't spare 10 minutes, and still hasn't asked us how the house is, whether we've settled in or even where it is!
All his Dad talks about is himself and only gets in touch to talk about himself, or to tell OH something, he never rings OH to see how we are.
In the text OH sent to his Dad, he said he was upset and would like to share the babies early years with his own family and not just mine ~ his Dad couldn't even respond to that, the horrible !!!!!!.

OH text his Dad and brother on Sunday night. His Dad replied Monday morning and OH text him straight back.
He's had plenty of time to respond and he defoo would have seen and read it, OH said that he knew he wouldn't respond though.
It'll be because OH has stood upto him, he doesn't like that, but it's tough! I'm sick of OH get treated like crap off his family, God how I wish his Mum was alive
