'grats scaredy. Only 500 or so words to go (am tempted to get close to the 11k and "fudge" the numbers slightly so may be happy if I can get another 300 out.

Need to check I am not mis-counting as I have to keep minusing the appendices and references.

I've temporarily put the appendices in a separate file and am at 11,741 words in the remaining report. How much would you reduce that to before complaining you had reached 11,000 words? I hand it in on paper so they won't count every word. I was hoping 500 off might be close enough but still need to find another 500 to cut.

Thanks Scaredy. Unfortunately I can't access the link as I'm on my work laptop and it says that it is a blocked link and if I try to get round the block I will get reported for investigation :eek: It says the site is a "school cheating site". Goodness knows why that is a problem when I don't work in a school.

I need to get my own laptop so I don't have to study on their one I could also enter more competitons

Don't rush it Kat. Get a clear plan in your head of your structure and then prune strategically. It would be a terrible time to chop out the wrong bit! You're so so close.

this is the bit i thought could help you -

Using an appendix

(Appendix = singular, appendices = plural)
Appendices are used when the incorporation of material in the body of the work would make it poorly structured or too long and detailed.
The appendix may be used for helpful, supporting or essential material that would otherwise clutter, break up or be distracting to the text.
Other people’s work will be referred to, not quoted, in the appendix.
Appendices may include some of the following:

• supporting evidence
• contributory facts
• specialised data [raw data appear in the appendix, summarised data appear in the body of the text.]
• technical figures, tables or descriptions
• detailed description of research instruments
• maps
• questionnaires I]questionnaire results appear in the body of the text[/I

The body of the text must be complete without the appendices, and it must contain all information including tables, diagrams and results necessary to answer the question or support the thesis.
Appendices are not usually included in the word count.
Appendices must be referred to in the body of the text, for example,. ‘details of the questionnaire aregiven in Appendix B [on page 23]’
