Can not get Contract phone as no credit history

Can i have some advice please, my daughters bf has been trying to get a contract phone but they all say No as he has no credit history, he has called orange customer services and they say no, we have checked his credit report there is nothing on it. He is on the electoral roll, he has a bank account and there is always money in it. He is getting very fed up with PAYG. My other concern is that they are saving for a deposit to buy a house will they hit the same sort of problems looking for a mortgage!! Any suggestions Thanks

Get an orange PAYG sim, after about 3 months they will accept you onto a contract.
Don't go for a high value contract like an Iphone, keep it simple 10-30 a month.
Has he checked his credit file, is he linked to anyone with a bad credit file as this will affect him.
Does he have defaults, ccjs etc?Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
