Moving home and MAC codes

Could someone clarify this MAC code scenario for me please?
I'm currently with Virgin Media for phone and broadband (their XL 20MB package), and it's not particularly cheap when looking at Martin's moneysaving ideas.
I'm moving house in 2 weeks to a new build property - therefore no history of broadband attached to it.
I'm intending to cancel both phone and internet with Virgin, and start afresh with new providers. (I'm far beyond the minimum term contract, so I assume they will start a 30 day notice period with no cancellation fee).
In this situation, do I need to obtain the MAC code? I can't think why the new provider would need it, but I'm no expert on this.

MAC does not apply to cable connections-VM is the only cable supplier. And it does not apply to house moves anyway. A MAC is only used when migrating to a different supplier on the same ADSL line.No free lunch, and no free laptop
