DVLA Organ Donation !!!! Up
Comments

my issue with organ donation in general is that I dont like the thought of someone wishing I would die so they can have my organs. Oh and matters regarding organ donation are between the person and their GP, not the DVLA.
My GP should be asking me if I would go on the organ donation list.

NO ONE who receiving organ wishes someone else to die. That is extremely unfair and insensitive to the millions of people who have been saved from organs. If that's how you feel then keep it too your self thanks.
Every who drives should be asked by the DVLA and your doctor teacher ect many people say they be happen to donate organ but never get around to registering and people should be given as many chances as possible. Obversely you shouldn't be made too.
Even if your partner or self is on the list its up to your next of Kin as to wherever your organs will be donated.0 -
yes sorry that was a bit insensitive sorry, I should have worded it better. It made me sound against the ODR which is not the case.
The ODR themselves have been unfair and insensitive by cocking up the donors records and sharing the donors data around like collateral. I have just written to the ODR asking to be removed from the list until this matter is resolved.
So when a transplant patient is waiting for an organ, are they not waiting for an organ donor to die so they can have that persons organ? confused sorry

Waiting for someone to die is different from wishing someone to die. The ODR have not been sharing the data around (they recorded some donors particular wishes incorrectly), they gather it from several sources (namely the DVLA and GP's). RTA's providing a lot of healthy donations as unfortunately it is the most common way for healthy people to die.
I feel if you are not a donor you should not be given the option of receiving donated organs if needed. (But I am a hypocrite as I don't give blood but would take it if needed, I just can't face the red stuff it makes me quite sick and faint to see a drop of my own red stuff!)0 -
i even had to double think my blood donations a couple of months ago after discovering that pharmacutical companies were buying 0- blood from the NHS to create HIV drugs (plus other blood based drugs). Apparently due to them not being able to clone O- blood like they can with Rh+ blood so it has to be sourced.
Now I dont have a problem with where it is going but how about being informed about these things and maybe getting more than a sweet cup of tea next time lol.
Another thing that boils my !!!! is Cancer Research. They seem to invest millions every year into research yet have no drug patents or anything on the shelf whatsoever. What we do have is very expensive cancer drugs that hardly anyone can afford and only seem to save the rich and famous. Maybe CR should concentrate on making the existing drugs more available to everyone rather than selling their research to the pharmacuticals.
into the bees nest i go.... buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz0 -
For my opinion I am all for the automatic donor policy where you have to opt out. I would rather see a life saved because someone forgot to opt out than a life lost because they forgot to opt in.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

Sounds like a good system to me. You should try giving blood, at no time do you need to see a drop of blood. Before giving they make a pin !!!!! on your finger to test a little blood but you could quite easliy look away while this is happening.0 -
the opt in/opt out issue boils down to who actually owns a body after death. Probably the most complicated legal argument in history hence why the auto 'opt in' is not in action.
If a person neither opts in or out during their life then it seems fair to leave the decision of donation down to the next of kin or spouse etc. If that person does not have any relatives or registered wish then no donation should be carried out. Even though I have temporarily opted out for privacy reasons, my other half knows that I would agree to donate anything if asked on my behalf by a doctor.
That seems to be the fairest way to go about it morally and legally where everyone is happy. Any other method could alienate donors who would obviously not like the idea of being forced to donate by law and make a point of opting out for morals sake protecting their personal rights.
