This sounds like a case for judge judy. I don't think you're responsible at all0

Hang on a tick... have you just received the form as some kind of threat? Or has it been properly served (ie did you get a response pack)?
If you've just received a copy of the form - then sending a short, carefully worded letter should suffice. If it's been served, then really the basis of the claim should be more precisely given (perhaps it is). More information, please!0 -
Good point made by happy chappy.
Also, even if you think she is trying it on and there is no case for you to answer DO NOT simply ignore the court papers and assume the court will throw it out.
You MUST file the defence form by the cut off date stated, and explain that the claim is disputed and why (ie you deny that you have any liability for credit card debts in her sole name).
As HC says, the claim should be set out in more detail - ie it should explain why she is claiming that you owe the money (eg he asked me to pay for his motor bike leathers with my credit card and promised to repay the purchase price of £xx to me, but despite repeated requests he has not given me the money). If she has made specific allegations like that, then you need to state expressly that you deny that the money was a loan or that there was ever any agreement to pay it back. If you agree that she did buy the items for you but that they were gifts and no mention was made of you having to repay the money, then state that.
But whatever you do, get the form filled in and back to the court, otherwise there is a high risk that the court will rule against you.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I don't think you're liable to any of her debt from credit cards since you didn't spend it, it was she who spent it anyway. Why does she even thought of that?! crazy!
Maybe because there's more to it than the OP has stated thus far, such as maybe she is claiming just for those items that she claims she bought for him, not the whole bill.
I'm waiting for a new thread to appear: "My ex-boyfriend refuses to pay his share of the stuff we bought together on my credit card, what can I do".loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
I don;t think she has a leg to stand on personally unless she can prove that you have benefited from the goods/services purchased. Even then it's a very grey area. I would go along the lines of then threatening to take her to court for house maintenance payments.
This sounds a bit judge judy , does she like watching that programme?!0
