I worked for Tesco at that time and remember clearly that Tesco copied Kwik Saves "No Frills" range. The Value range was just a response to a threat from one sector of the market. What Tesco is good at is acting very quicky to percieved business threats. Kwik save indroduced the No Frills range in 1993 a few months later, in the same year, Tesco had responded with the Value Range.0 -

My dad had a village shop 30 odd years ago and always said that the supermarkets wouldn't stop until they had a monopoly through killing off all the small businesses and could then charge what they like and sell exactly what they like, taking away any choice. To an extent that has happened - it is very difficult to find many different brands like there used to be around - it is gradually becoming the supermarkets own label only!!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
