That will explain it then! :rotfl:

I got there at around 1.30pm, so they must have gone like hot cakes.

I'm really shocked because I've bought it for over 10 years, and the next cheapest alternative in the Tesco range costs more than double. Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons don't seem to have discontinued their cheapo 50p equivalents which makes it all the more strange.

are you that shocked? its what tescos etc will do, now what washing powder will u buy? the next one up which is tescos only it costs more, as soon as supermarkets can raise the prices they will, its a long term goal as all little business' are being put out of business they gain a larger strangle hold on the population and we only have our self to blame

They seem to put about 12 out in the night and when they are gone - they dont refresh till the following night.

I have been going early in the morning and finding them there.

    Hope this helps

The reason that I'm shocked is that it's Tesco and none of the other big 3 who have dropped this product from their range.

Tesco were always the pioneers of the Value brand and were more cut-throat than anyone else; they practically invented the whole concept of the Value range back in 1993, and their cheap washing powder was a flagship product in their range, like the famous 7p baked beans and the 11p loaf of bread.

I quite agree that the ultimate aim of supermarkets is to bring about a stranglehold in price and supply. But normally the big 4 all put their heads together and conspire to do these things in harmony, like for example the way they increased the price of their Value brand orange juice by 48.5% earlier this year despite there being virtually no rise in the market price of oranges.

Maybe Sainsburys, Asda and Morrisons will also now follow suit and delete Value washing powder from their ranges in the near future. Let's watch this space.
