yeah, I paid them in cash. Basically I set up a DD and now have a lump of cash with them. I want to take out a contact with T-mobile as it will work out cheaper, but don't want to lose my money, or wait until it's used up.0

It's very unlikely they will refund you the credit. I don't know of anyone who has managed to get the credit back.
I expect it will be in the terms and conditions of the pay and go service.
