I've also got a blackhead squeezer from the Body Shop, can't remember what it cost though.

thank you sooo much for all ur advice, but a tiny question if i may:

mama bear-did the milk of magnesia work as a deteront, or did u use it to get rid of blackheads?

Well, it definitely doesn't deter new blackheads, but seems to get rid of lots of the smaller ones, tightens the skin and leaves it smooth afterwards.

how would u go about using it please?

Ooh blackheads, one of my mortal enemies!

Biore is a brand of soap and skin stuff. I have very oily skin and found this makes my skin worse.

I use Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser and the scrub, I find them both very effective. It might be worth thinking about going or a professional treatment in a salon to get as much cleared out as poss. I also use a [SIZE=-1]Comedone Spoon to get some out, but you need to be careful with it and do it really carefully.

I have been plagued by acne and blackheads forever and ever, my mum is 60 and still gets spots so i'm doomed :(

I use the cleanser after I've washed my face in the morning and at night. I've noticed a gradual improvement over a few months and I have to say there's not many on my nose now. If I get one I use the spoon thing if it's really nasty. I'm not putting that totally down to the cleanser and scrub obviously but I think they've definately helped.

Once a week I use avon clear scrub aswell which is brilliant for cleaning up your skin, but it's rather abravise so only to be used once a week really.

I use a gel prescribed by my doctor for my spots which dries out the skin, but I don't use this on my nose as it can make it dry.

If the blackhead sufferer can get in a sauna that can help too, so long as you exfoliate afterwards. I make a habit of this once or twice a month in my gym, and that really helps clear everything out although your skin can go worse for a day or two after.

I can totally understand the misery of blackheads, and acne. I have days when I won't leave the house because it can get so bad.

Can you tell this is a subject i know a lot about?!:rotfl:

I use the milk of m when i have a whopper of a spot. I quite often get these hideous boil-type spots, ones that have their own pulse if you know what i mean! I have used it out of desparation, so I can't say really whether they go away quicker - although the milk of m seems to bring the inflamation down.

I just put it on cotton wool and dab it on.

oooooh mama bear, that thread was absolutely brilliant, just 1 more stupid question, does the milk of magnisia bring the black heads out so as to remove them with strips, or does the milk of magnesia remove it?
plus how long do u keep it on? there were a variation of reports on that thread, some all night and another stated 1 or 2 hours is fine???

The best thing is prevention rather than cure!
You can do a d.i.y facial sauna by filling the sink with hot water and leaning over it with a towel over your head to trap the steam in.
Then use a brown sugar exfoliator, and avoid moisturising your nose unless you really need to.
