Does it cost anything to use apps on a Nokia?

Depends. I don't think the Apps can charge you, but Apps can send texts, use internet and make calls, so it may 'cost' you in other ways.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

The nokia apps do not charge to install, no apps do i believe.
However as above apps can send data and premium texts which will cost you.
i.e. Nokia OVI maps is free to install and use. But using the voice guidance costs money (done via text i think) and the use of the maps is free, however maps maybe downloaded if not installed manually so you get charged your networks rate for data usage.
However many Nokia games don't use the internet so once installed there are no charges.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

sorry, I have never used apps before, and don't know much about them.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
Usually with Symbian phones, you will be prompted if a program needs or tries to access the network for any data usage. You can also configure the type of access an individual program has by going to the installed program, then Options and "Application access" (there you can define the type of access a program should or should not have).0

I've got loads of free apps for my Nokia 5800. I'm on an all-inclusive internet package (for approx £5 monthly), so don't have to worry about data charges.
Might be worth enquiring with your provider to see if you can get a similar deal, if you're worried about charges.0 -
Most of my Nokia apps ask before connecting - handy if you want to change the access point etc.
One or two don't - eg Nokia Maps! I've downloaded the full UK maps onto my memory card (using the Ovi Suite) but it still seems to connect to look up and check where you are heading.
I've not checked data use but I'm guessing it wouldn't be much if you've already got the maps.0
