Moving into new flat. Best deal for broadband and phone

Im going to be moving into a new flat at the start of October. Both my flatmate and i will require access and dont really want to run to the gf's or to uni every time we need to use the interweb

The flat has a telephone connection (im pretty sure anyway) which isnt connected.

We will need unlimited access and are not worried about calls as we most likely wont be using the phone. Anything 2mb or over would be great.

Sadly the area doesnt have cable, so thats out of the question.

anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

if the flat is new built, even the flat has a socket on the wall, you still need to pay installation fee for your first bt line.

AOL is a good choice if you don't use phone too much.
Primus is another good choice which £8.48 after cashback. 1m, unlimited.
if someone can recommend you, you will get extra £10 credit.

I just signed up primus yesterday. if you need any help, just let me know.

What do you mean by *unlimited access* ??

Do you mean an always-on, 24/7 connection, or are you referring to unlimited downloading ?

If the latter, then the only really affordable one is AOL

If you are prepared to accept caps i.e. a download limit on the amount of data permitted to upload/download, then what size?

30 GB, or possibly 25 GB ? more or less ?

i seriously need uncapped. Because of the nature of my business online i need to handle around 200gb/month.

i think it is a joke companies cap at 2gb for the prices they charge

i am not willing to go down the AOL route. AOL are nazis in my opinion and so i am not going near them

    desperate for help :(

AOL are about the cheapest low cost unlimited provider now. It's perfectly possible to have a connection with them, and never have to install any of their software on your computer to use the internet.

If you are really after unlimited (or as big a limit as you mention), I think the only option is for a very expensive, or even business package.

Lots of companies say unlimited (Tiscali comes to mind), then slap you with a strict FUP to stop you downloading endlessly.

This is the state of broadband in the UK now.

I have not taken up Zens offer of a free speed upgrade to 8Mb because of the limits. My 2Mb Zen connection is completely unlimited, and unshaped in any form. If I upgrade my speed, I will have to choose between a 20GB or 50GB limit. Even Zen don't offer unlimited home connections now (I've got mine because I was an existing customer before they changed their packages).

Is 330GB enough (30GB peak, 300GB off-peak)? Freeola (an EntaNet reseller) offer up to 8Mbps for 14.99pm for first 3 months and free activation, then £24.99pm thereafter.

After the 3 months, you could migrate for free to UKFSN (another EntaNet reseller), on the same product and cap it would be £19.99pm. Or choose one of their other packages.

well i've been with primus for both phone and net .for about 2 months i p2p and use it 12 hrs a day with the kids and work customer service is 0800 as well
  • If you're shifting 200gb a month, then you really should be on a business plan.

Because others are suffering with heavy handed regulations, due to people shifting the above and more every month.

Incidently, you'll find that most ToS or T&C will state that the lines are for residential use only. If they find out you're running a business, you may end up in breach of contract.
