Easyjet hand baggage - CONFUSED - HELP!

Considering the size of hand luggage I saw people with on easy jet/rynair/delta flights it seems no airline actually cares. Being able to carry it seems to be all that matters. Mine was technically 3cm too big, but it wasn't full so I could squash it to fit the dimensions/overhead bin/under the seat and noone questioned it.0

There is no way of predicting the actions of one member of staff.
If they suspect that it is too big, they will ask you to place it in the sizing cage. If it doesn't fit, it is perfectly reasonable for them to say that it doesn't go in the cabin.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I flew from Toulouse to Bristol Last Saturday on Easy Jet and there were people taking on hand luggage far in excess of the prescribed limits.0

That may well have been the case on your flight, but it doesn't mean it will be the same for all flights from all airports.
If your baggage is within the size dimensions (and weight limit where applicable) you KNOW that you won't have a problem.
If it isn't, you MAY have a problem.
And if you're one of the ones they decide to stop, you maybe forced to check your bag into the hold.
As alanrowell points out, that won't be cheap and if you are sent back to check your over-size/over-weight bag in and check-in has closed, you'll miss your flight.0 -
Pollycat - Good post:T. I was going to scribe something similar.0

I saw a rather amusing arguement between a couple and a member of easyjet staff when they were asked to put their bag in the cage as it was a bit too big...they were attempting to remove the wheels and stuff it in the cage then it wouldn't come out of the cage! Save yourself the embarrassment and make sure your bag is within the size limit. Weight is less of an issue as long as you can lift it above your head to go in the storage thing.

I've been with Easyjet/Ryan Air quite afew times - 9/10 my hand luggage hasn't been checked by the actual staff, but when it was (Easyjet from Gatwick) i had to remove half my things and squash them into my suitcase which was embarassing having it all open on the floor when there was a huge queue of people behind me so i held them up too!!
It doesn't matter where you're flying to or where from - they have rules in place for a reason so it's better to be safe. Luggage charges are more expensive at the airport than to prebook so why don't you just pay £18 and take a suitcase and a small bag on board?0 -
99% of the time easyJet won't bother checking, mostly because the staff don't have time plus they can see by eye if a bag is too big or not. However the size restrictions are absolute and cover all parts of the bag- you can't exclude the wheels! And you will have to put it into the overhead locker yourself so you have to be able to lift it.
You may be better off just taking one proper sized bag between you?0
