Easyjet hand baggage - CONFUSED - HELP!

Hi all you loverly money savers!
I'm booking a flight to Cyprus and want to save the £36 they want to charge us for hold baggage.
We can get our stuff into hand baggage and are prepared to take less than 100ml of shampoo etc, and buy new stuff when we are out there. (Cheaper than £36!)
Problem is, I cannot make head nor tail of Easyjet's rules on this.
I phoned lowcostholidays.com, who I'm booking with via the web and they said if we have only hand baggage that's only 5KG each, but I don't see that rule on Easyjet's site. On there, a lot of complicated things are explained, but the most simple thing, "how much can hand baggage weigh", isn't answered.
"We allow 20kg of baggage per passenger. You can buy extra bags or weight now at a special rate, or at the airport at a more expensive rate. Change the number of hold bags or extra weight for this booking to suit your needs. Further bags can be added online at any time via My easyJet.com. Purchasing additional bags does not increase your weight allowance. Our baggage handlers are strong and careful, but to save their backs no single bag may weigh more than 32kg. Bag charges are non-refundable".
Anyone help please?

your hand baggage may not exceed the dimensions of 56x45x25cm, but if the notices on Easyjet check in @ Luton are to be believed , it can weigh whatever you can fit in it .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Save where the limits set locally are more restrictive, passengers are permitted one standard piece of hand baggage to a volume limit of 56x45x25cm (including wheels and pockets) (“Standard Hand Baggage”). It must fit without force into the gauges provided at check-in or departure gates. No weight restriction applies within reasonable limits — i.e. a passenger must be able to place the piece of luggage safely in the overhead storage bins without assistance.
In addition to the “Standard Hand Baggage” you may also carry:
(a) one of the following: An overcoat; an umbrella, or a shawl; and
(b) one standard size carrier bag of goods purchased from the departure airport0 -
Thanks both. The crucial text here appears to be:
"Save where the limits set locally are more restrictive"
Maybe Gatwick-Paphos is one of them?
Damn Easyjet!
I've phoned them and hung on for AGES on an 0870 number, racking up at 10p a minute and they never answered, then I went on their site and finally found a way to email them. After I sent my message, the confirmation message said they are so inundated with emails about the volcano that it could ve a long, long time before I get an answer!

I thought I would ask my question on this thread instead of making a new one. My hand luggage is exactly 56cm without the wheels which are about 3cm. Will they care about this? I don't want to spend £18 because of 3cm.0

Includes the wheels on the pictogram on their metal gauge at airports.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Yes if they ask you to put it in the cage and it won't fit. I flew three times with easyJet last week from Newcastle, Bristol and Bodrum and no hand luggage was checked, but have flown from Stansted when they were checking lots of people.0

20kg for free in hold with no carry on
or 10kg hold, 10kg carry on, or possibly 15kg hold and 5kg carry on.
total limit 20kg for freeTarget Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
Dave, that is not correct. There is no weight limit on cabin luggage with easyJet. If you pay £9 per flight for an item of hold baggage the 20 kilos (or up to 32 kg if there's more than one person on the booking) of hold luggage is in addition to the cabin luggage.0
