Hi, I'm pretty tired this morning. We spent yesterday afternoon gardening, including cutting down a 20' xmas tree. We've filled 2 green bins with branches and it doesn't look like we've touched the pile! I think I'm going to be at the tip this week quite a few times.
I also went to the 60th birthday party of a couple of friends so a late night. They had a ceilidh which was great I never stopped dancing all night! My feet and legs are now killing me.
I've scrubbed the bathroom, got 2 loads of washing done and found some carpet in dS2's room - Just need to get some more tidying done downstairs and some vacuuming. Dh has taken DS1 out for a walk before they go to the airport to pick somebody who is coming to work with DH for a few weeks. They are coming back here for dinner which is roast chicken with trimmings. I'm hoping to get a sit down at some point and want to get some quilting done tonight.
Snoozer - I'm really jealous that you got to go to the V&A quilt exhibition, I would love to go, but can't work out how to get down there with everything that is going on here atm0 -
Morning all, just a quick hello and question before going to w*rk, any OS ers on a gluten free diet? My GF is having probs and someone suggested trying gluten free for a while, so any suggestions and pointers to web sites would be appreciated :-)
Be back tomorrow, have a nice Sunday folks.0 -
Afternoon folks
Gorgeous sunny day here. Been out round the park twice with the doggies.
Also went to £ Land and got more Oxo cubes - 24 for £1. Also more of the Princes tinned tomatoes - 3 for £1. We had a tin last night in our arabiatta and it really was much more tomatoe-y than the SmartPrice I always buy. What else? Hunted everywhere for a lip brush to get the last out of 3 lipsticks - all sold out so i went back and had another look at Poundland and got a horrible plasticky boxed make up set for...yes £1 but lo! there is a lip brush in it
. Not keen on buying useless plastic but I will put the other brushes to the charity shop and see if they want them.
Dinner tonight might be stewed sausages and mash + reduced broccoli with Yorks. Or...if DH is still putting up kitchen units, it will be ready meals - I have 2 chicken tagliatelle ones in freezer so we'll just bung them in the microwave.
Either way, it's fruit salad and ice cream for pud.
I also went to the library and have 2 new books - The New Home Larder by Judith Wills, and the Grown in Britain Cookbook, supported by the Soil Association. I've also found out about a food co-op in Edinburgh so will be going along there next Saturday.
Ok, off to iron the bedding for the in-laws' hols so I've got that organised. Might need to buy a couple of bath towels. We have down sized and i was ruthless when i sorted out the linen cupboard before moving. Maybe too ruthless in the bath towel dept when it comes to having people to stay though. Also put loads of 'spare' casserole dishes to the charity shop only to find that now that i'm near my grown up kids and their partners, also my neices and nephews, I cook quite often for bigger crowds and will need to go and buy some more. Ah well, at least it cut down the work of packing them up! Hoping also that someone is enjoying using them - i always love buying 'pre-owned' things and wondering about their history.
have a good afternoon folks. (((hugs))) to those feeling low.

Hiya Stroppy
Good websites are
www.dietaryneedsdirect.co.uk they have a huge range and you can shop by intolerance.
Lakeland do a really good bread mix, tesco do genius bread (nice but VERY expensive) all of the supermarkets do gluten free pasta, and they all do rice flour which you can replace weight for weight in baking. I use potato starch as a thickener rather than flour - tesco is the cheapest at 99p for 500g. If you have a waitrose close by then they do a huge range but again it can be expensive.
If you have anything specific then give me a shout - we have replaced most things

Afternoon Peeps
Chilly and very breezy here today but at least it is dry. So I have just put one load of washing on the line - finished most of the washing yesterday so only had one load to do today.
DH out in the garden working on his push bike - he wants to start using it again because he has put on a bit of weight over the winter.
Dinner prepared roast chook and all the trimmings with a HM rice pud for dessert
Think I will be doing a few stews next week by the look of the weather forecast
DH flexing his masculinity and has ordered me to do as the doctor ordered and sit with my feet up after dinner .......I don't wash up on a Sunday DH and kids always do that
So I think I will crack on with the jumper I am doing and hopefully it will be finished in a couple of days ....Need something warmer than the flimsy knitwear that was on sale last Autumn and Winter
DD has been looking through my patterns and has chosen a lovely cardi that she wants me to do for her in purple and black so I have plenty to keep me from being bored.
(((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))) Diva, NPM, Penpin, and all who need one.
JackieG.......Honestly I have known a few staffies in my time and they have all been lovely well natured and loyal .........It is like kids it is how you bring them up that counts..........(((Hugs))) and some for Coco too x
Martin.............:bdaycake:. Happy Birthday _party_Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Had bacon sandwich for breakfast and washed up all the dishes, glasses etc. while DH was out with DD(24) on driving practice for her.
Lunch was roast chicken with potatoes, mushy peas and asparagus. Saved some for DD(24) and (16) who are both out in York with friends.
Looks as if the house sale for 21st is still on but have another surveyor coming on Tuesday morning. Fingers crossed it does not fall through.
Have short term rental to go to but can't really pack a lot of stuff up in case things don't work out so feel quite disorientated.
Hugs to everyone especially Diva and pennyPincher"This site is addictive!"

evening!
first chance I've had to egt on here today!
this morning we went to a carboot but it was disappointing and I didn't get anything although DH got a nice wallet(new) for £2.
This afternoon we've been to the tip and recycled some old pigeon boxes(shelf type things they nest in)
I'm cooking tea now - beef for the men and a turkey/sage and onion quorn fillet for me with lots of steamed fresh veg and roasted new pots.
house clean and tidy - yesterday I washed the kitchen walls down and the cupboard tops  didn't realise how grubby it had got.
I've also made a lemon drizzle for Mum's elderly friends birthday on Tuesday and I'll pop it round tomorrow as I'm at work Tuesday.
I'm looking forward to 3 days in Devon later this week with Mum:j, Thurs, Fri and Sat - we've got free use of a friends flat in Seaton so will only need food and petrol money:T
Hope you all have a lovely evening x
(((hugs))) to Diva , PP and Ladygrim and anyone who needs one.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Quite a productive day, did another 3 loads of washing including bedding, all ironed and put away.
Did all the general HW stuff thats needs doing, spoke to my mum and OH, felt a bit lonely this aftnernoon, got over it now. Am used to being on my own week nights so tonight will just seem normal :rotfl:
JackieG - I am a bit scared of all dogs (due to a nasty experience when I was about 8) but it doesn't stop me visiting people with dogs. I assume that if people I like have a dog living with them it will be as nice as they are
I may not make a fuss of the dog but certainly wouldn't stop visiting.
Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow
been such a nice relaxing week off, although apart from going to see Peter Kay we didn't really do much, just chilled. Hate going back after time off, it always seems something has happened and you never get the full story:rotfl:
Off to surf a bit more, then might play some games on FB, not a lot on tv that I want to watch tonight, oh and early night ready for work tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your evening xwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Thaks Dazi, the thing is, she's not afraid of other dogs, they were raised with dogs, and she and her husband had a dog (a big huge Newfoundland!) until it died in March!!! It's just prejudice because she is a Staffie. My OH and the boys are there now, we were out much longer than planned today and I didn't want to leave Coco on her own. Shame, but I'm also making a point, we spoke briefly on the phone today, and as soon as I mentioned the dog she couldn't hang up soon enough! Mother In Law will make the dog's case though, as she is mad about her.

Have just finished the Tesco shopping to be delivered tomorrow and ordered Ben 10 birthday cake for DS1 5th birthday. £7.31 and it looks tiny!:eek:
Also ordered all the bits I need for his and the other reception class so I can make them fairy cakes and crispy cakes to have on DS1 birthday. There 44 kids plus teachers!
Wish I could bake and ice cakes! xx:)Mum, wife and dinnerlady!0
