Traditional or Unconventional?

Options
I'm curious to see how many of you are sticking with a traditional wedding. Are you keeping some traditions and not others? Or are you breaking all the white wedding, blushing bride rules?

I only ask as people around me seem to think it's not a 'proper' wedding if we miss out certain traditions. I don't want bridesmaids, I want a 50's style short dress, I don't want heels, I'm not having a bouquet, we're not marrying in a church, we're walking down the aisle together, we're not having a wedding cake, we're having choc fudge, cheesecake and apple crumble! I'm being made to feel like a freak lol

Are you having things how you want or do you feel you have to include certain things?

Im going pretty much traditional. Its just the way i want it.

Dont listen to what other people want or think it should be. You have your wedding how YOU want it.

    Hi Taypier,
I'm doing some things traditionally and some not. My Dad gave me the best advice, he said:
"Don't do what everyone else thinks you should. Do what makes both of you feel comfortable. Then you'll be happy and have a good time and everyone else will follow your lead and enjoy themselves"

I keep remembering the advice and relaxing so it's working for me!

(Definitely want the short dress too!)

Mine is V unconventional - not white dress, hog roast, gypsy tango band, no sit down meal, home made decorations, button bouquet, to name a few!

I think with weddings, its a case of define "traditional".
When I got married 12 years ago favours were just becoming popular, and I didn't have them, or balloons etc. Now its pretty much the norm.
Have what you want and blow everyone else is what I say!

we are having button bouquet, button invited lots of buttons, no flowers at all, a 50's short dress, red shoes, red sash

we are having a church and a 4 course meal though with a evening disco but we aren't having a buffet just cupcakes and bisquits and cheese.

we aren't going in your typical rolls royce we are going in a white beetle as owning one nothing else would feel right.

do what ever you bloody well wanted to its your wedding no one elses.

I did the traditional thing first time round, church, hotel do for the reception, all the family there....this time it's going to be at Chester Zoo, only our mums and our kids from the family at a small daytime do, party at local football club in the evening and I'm planning on wearing purple....can't wait :)
Do what YOU want, it's YOUR day and you don't want to look back and feel you compromised
