Belkin Wireless Router Keeps Disconnecting

We do have an amp on the bottom shelf but it's on the right-hand side, the router is on the upper shelf on the left-hand side towards the back. It's not enclosed and is well ventilated.
I thinking of biting the bullet and buying another router but don't want to waste my pennies if that one does the same - that wouldn't be very MSE0 -
Id guess the router is at fault. I had a belkin (Probably still do somewhere), and I had random problems with it:idea:0

I think I'm gonna buy a new one today (definitely not a Belkin :rotfl:) which will hopefully cure the problem.
Thanks AliEnRIK and everyone else that offered up suggestions - your advice is appreciated as always :beer:0 -
Just thought I would update you all - I've gone and bought a Netgear WNR2000 router and after a couple of hours, so far so good!
I'm on the lappy and OH is on his XBox and No Disconnection Yet :j:j:j:j (she says touching wood). The increased speed is also very noticeable, so much so that OH downloaded a big demo on the xbox and now we've been throttled :rotfl:
I'm looking forward to taking a hammer to the Belkin but I'll leave that until tomorrow to be on the safe side0 -
I am so glad that I have found this thread!
I am having exactly the same problems as you but my Router, the globe light flashes, this happens once I have been on the xbox and playing on Modern Warfare 2. I can get into a couple of lobbies and then I get kicked off.
I was wondering, the new router you have bought, have you had the same problems or anything? Can you plug the xbox into the back of it?0 -
Hi Mozza WR
No problems at all with the new router - XBox online gaming no longer an issue, also have laptop and wireless printer connected and quite recently 2 smart phones as well and it copes no problem at all. Yes the XBox plugs straight into the back of it via ethernet cable. If you had the same router as me (Belkin F5D7230-4) and it keep disconencting then it's time for a new one I think.
HTH and you get it sorted - it's so frustrating!0 -
I too had a belkin wireless router which was starting to act up after about 4 or 5 years of use.
I contacted their support who went through the usual routines and ended up concluding that it was at fault. They then offered to replace the router as soon as I sent faulty one to them(postage paid for by belkin). I got back a newer model as the old one was obselete and have been happy with it ever since. Belkin routers do appear to suffer from problems but as long as they offer this lifetime guarantee then I'm sticking with them.
Plus Mozza, you don't need any proof of purchase either.0 -
I had a similar problem with a Belkin router I bought after using Netgear's without a problem. Ended up taking it back as I work from home and couldn't afford to keep having dropped connections.
Ended up with a Netgear WNDR3700 and wouldn't look back. No dropped connections, fast speed, USB drive connected to the router as a backup device and wireless print server connected wirelessly with 2 printers attached to that.0
