i had to read the posts here over to figure it out too - but they're not swapping a starter for a main, they are adding a 2nd main to the deal, and only being charged an extra £2 for the 2nd main.

if I'm reading it right, you get an extra main for the price of a start/side.

Yes, but they got the 2nd main free from the way I read it. If it had gone through correctly, it would be £9 for the deal plus £4 or £5 for the 2nd main, making the total £13 or £14, hence the glitch saves a couple of quid.:beer:

Thank you, still working. I got two deals .
4 x packs Chicken Kiev
2 x Potatoes with bacon
2x Wine
2 x Morello cherry pudding ( only choice they had)

Total £22

The wine alone was £9.99 a bottle, Chicken kiev £5.50 each, Potatoes £2 each and Pudding £3 each

SA looked at the total , counted all items,looked at total again, scratched head and then asked me to insert my card!

I tried with 2 mains as 1 kievs and 1 pkt x 2 steak pies. Didn't work. It might only work with the same main. I gave up.

Just an update, no starters left at my Tesco so I picked up:-

2 x chicken Kiev
1 x box of 2 choc tartlets (can't remember exact name)
1 x bottle of Chardonnay

I was charged £9 for the above, hope that helps anyone who doesn't really want the starter
