    Thanks for that Cajef.

Im dubious about asking questions on here sometimes.....the last time i did i got some really nasty replies , baffles me why some people bother ?

    So....thanks again , its appreciated.

They generally ask if you have had any policies cancelled (by the insurer) or any special terms imposed which in simple terms means 'your more of a risk'

You can cancel your own policy at any time though (usually not wise with an ongoing claim) :)! Only bad thing about that is the cancellation fee's :(!

I would speak to a manager protocol is right giving you 7 days however for it to not be reversable isnt its not physically cancelled so of course it can be reversed..

who are you insured with ?

btw. I have seen 3 strike rules in the past where by insurers refuse to let you pay by dd if 3 fail but they always give the opportubity to pay up the policy in full

It all depends on the company... The company I work for when we send out the cancellation letter for failue of dd payment (after given time to pay) says the policy will be cancelled 7 days from the date of the letter and the process has started and cannot be stopped... So ask them on a copy of the letter or get them to read it to you and if its something similar that may be the reason it cannot be reversed...
I like to think I can help but its for discussion purposes only so if I get it wrong please feel free to correct me.

the thing that gets me is i always paid, its not like im refusing to pay them. i found out today the reason they couldnt take the direct debit from my account. in feb they tried to take payment and wasnt the funds in there so they cancelled the dd. so the referrence number they use is blocked upon cancellation, and everytime they try tried the dd it was refused because of this. so it has been there fault all along!!

    No it isnt there fault.
You didnt have the funds in as per your contract with them and caused these problems.

Processing Direct Debits that bounce can be time consuming and expensive hence were a customer shows they dont have money in they may choose to cancel especially given the DD guarentee is very customer sided and again time consuming and expensive to comply with.

If you didnt want your insurance cancelled you should have ensured the money was in your account.

Thats interesting... I've heard some banks or the type of account will automatically cancel the direct debit after it was refused and then the bank has problems setting it up again by refusing it...

Even if it was their own fault they may of sent you letters saying they are missing certain payments and then given you a time frame to pay it... You say feb payment was missing but its now May so are you nearly 3 months behind on your direct debit plan?

Who told you the DD was refused? There has to be a problem between their accounts teams and your bank...

It isn't all their fault. The problem was caused by the original bounced DD. Your bank cancelled the DD, the insurance company tried to set it up again but your bank won't allow them to set up another DD using the same ref number (presumably your policy number). It makes sense, how would the bank differentiate between a cancelled DD and a new DD if they're identical? It's a shame that you've had all these problems, it could have been avoided if the original DD had been reinstated rather than the insurance company trying to set up a new one.

    all payment have been paid.!

But they haven't - you say in a later post there was a failed direct debit and that no payments have been made since then.

    Get your story straight.

    mate, whats ur problem!

i have my story straight. as soon as they dd bounced in feb, i made a card payment of the dd amount, and since because the dd kept getin rejected by the bank, i paid every month by phoning up and paying by card. i am all paid up and NOT behind with my payments!

the reason i think its thier fault is because i was told by the bank that they wouldnt cancel the dd if there was no funds. but ur spot on there

mate, everyone can miss a payment once in there life, and normally if you miss one payment it doesnt cancel the dd?? the reason it was missed was because i wasnt paid in time and didnt have the funds in my account.
