Don't blame you about TalkTalk. I guess 90% or more of their customers are going to be pretty satisfied BUT if things go wrong it looks a real bummer to try to get it sorted out.
Sky have got to be worth considering IF you're already a Sky customer as their basic package has only set-up fees.
If not then really, given your limited useage, I'd look at services with <2mgb transfer allowances each month. Namesco have a thread on here, again only set up costs for a basic service. Others are suggesting Primus.
Two good sites to compare ISPs and get feedback are:
https://www.adslguide.org
and
https://www.ispreview.co.uk
Personally I've just left Pipex and gone to IDNet whose customer service is truely outstanding. At £18pm for <2mgs [inc vat - some co's quote pre-vat price, so watch out for that] they aren't the cheapest but they're certainly good value IMO.0 -
i recommend zazizam - they offer a good vaiety of different options to suit anyone's needs - and it appears that they offer free activation and modem now....
... but looking at what you have written - seems like you may be better off with a dialup connection, if you will not be using it much0 -
Cheers, really helpfulDanielle -x-:p0

Welcome and congratulations for making MES what may be your first port of call. I think to be fair, however much you pay for an ISP, things CAN and DO go wrong. I'd be prepared to bet that those people who shed out a great deal each month, do not sail through without hicups. For over a year, I had no reason to fault e7even, it's true they had taken my £240 which equated over two years at a tenner a month. Only when I succumbed to their bait of increasing speed did I loose connection. That's when the rot set in.I think it is also true that there may well be half a dozen ISP's out there who claim a "free" service. Mind you, you have to commit yourself to a 18 month contarct for your phone.I have gone from a £1 per min technical helpline to 10p, that's with TT. Whoever you decide to use, you are bound to discover a better deal later. Best of Luck. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
