who do i contact ref buying small piece of land next to house

I wonder if someone could offer me some advice. Nex to my house is a small piece of unused land. It would only be big enough for a double garage. It is an irregular shape and is about 25 feet from the road and it boarders my property. Who would be my first point of contact to see if I would be able purchase it.

    you would need to find out who owns it, so probably the land registry

    What hazybubbles said. Also, do you see anyone (e.g. council workers) maintaining it? That might be a clue.

    Check up on the LandRegistry who the owner is and approach them.

    There was a thread on hear recently about buying a piece of land next to someones house. It was worth nothing to the actual owner as it was too small to build on etc but to the owner of the house it would have made their garden significantly bigger.

    Bear that in mind when you are negotiating for it and only pay what you think its worth - if it'll add £100,000 to the value of your home then pay more than if it would only be a moral victory for you and little financial benefit.
