Mine generally last for about three or four weeks. Once picked they don't grow back but the plants are often nice and thickly planted so should last for a fair bit and yes, they do need to be watered.
Parsley sauce is just white sauce made from a roux with the finely chopped herb added to it.0 -
I've had a parsley plant from Sainsburys for several months now. I kept it for a few weeks and let it grow before cutting any of it, and it kept growing till eventually I had to repot it and put it outside. I also have a basil plant from Sainsburys that's taking over my kitchen and the more I cut it the more it seems to grow. Yes, you will need to water them.0

I think if they're really crammed into the pot, if you split and repot into more pots to space them out they'll keep going for longer - less prone to assorted lurgies that way.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hi Viv
there is a thread about parsley sauce here so do have a read for other recipes.
I'll move this to the gardening board so you can get responses over there
Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
thanks

Hi Viv, I grew parsley last year from seed. A packet of seeds will cost about the same as your one pot. I grew them in a large pot just outside my kitchen door and the grew fantastically well (and all they need is watering when compost is dry), harvested them all summer long. Thought I would have to sow some more seeds this year but no, around 2 months ago the plant that I'd cut back well into autumn sprang into life again and is now a monster!!

I bought a similar pot last year, and planted it in a raised bed. It died back quite a lot, and then came back really strongly. I ended up with large clump of parsley which kept going all year. It died back in winter, and then surprised me by growing through again a few weeks ago. It's now looking really healthy, and will probably keep me going throughout this year too0

Hi, I bought some herbs from Lidl last week. I potted them up into decent compost into larger pots and keep them on the window sill. They are doing really well. Had the first pickings of basil and cuttings of chives."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

Parsley can be difficult to germinate... We used to pour some boiling water out of a kettle into the drill before sowing the seed... Now, I just buy the parsley out of a supermarket... They always have far too many plants in them.. so, take it out of the pot .. and with a really sharp craft knife, cut down through the roots to create two halves.. Depending on the size of the plant, keep dividing it carefully with the knife until you have at least 4 plants... and then pop them into 3" pots and gradually harden them off and then plant them in the garden near to your back door... Try and do the dividing and potting with as little disturbance to the plant as possible... as they hate being transplanted !!! When they come up the 2nd year, it is to produce seed so in the height of summer, they will bolt..... so I would advise anyone who uses a lot of parsley to get a plant so it is established in the garden to use when last year's one has gone to seed.... I hope you can follow all that !!!!
