Watch out for Ebay fees when selling low value items as they can swallow up almost all the profit especially if you accept payment via Paypal.

A good calculator is at https://www.qicture.com/calculator.html

    Good luck!

    Ooh, I like this idea!!!

Trying to decide what to start with

I have just sold a book on green metropolis and will get £4 minus postage fees for that - could be a good start! If I need a boost at some point (i.e. I lose all my money :rotfl: ) I have a box of beanie babies in storage. They're the last of a big collection I had, I sold all the others for reasonable profit but these are the ones I would only just break even on, with ebay fees etc. I've been meaning to sell them as a job lot starting at 99p... just to get rid of them, could be a couple of quid boost!

I think I'll hit the charity shops tomorrow after posting the book and see what I can get for my £3ish!

Oh oh, cheating type ideas.... could I use my profits to pay ebay fees to sell something more valuable.....??? Or perhaps get up to £10 and use to sign up to a casino with quidco - hope to make a profit and if not get the quidco money anyway? :D :rotfl:

As far as I'm concerned, the more inventive the better!!! It doesn't matter how you trade it up, as long as you trade it up....ummmm....I should add...legally please! :o :rotfl: :rotfl:

To the poster who mentioned ebay fees....thank you for that link - could be useful - although I just tested it and it doesn't appear to take into account the massive recent fee hikes for us ebay shop owners! I know their fee structure very well, but knowledge is power, eh?

AAaaaand for the next step! My ebay bargain - a little bracelet bought for the princely sum of £3.00 including postage has just been flogged by OH (along with other bits but that's another story) for a whopping £10!!! I told him to try and get £5 and he decided to get cheeky - and it worked!

Am getting all excited now...I have a crisp £10 to work with...what can i do next?? Might have to jjoin Kath in that Quidco casino! :D:D

We did a similar thing in our office a while ago. We each had to buy something from the local £1 shop and see who made the most.
I managed to get my £1 back (minus the Ebay fees). Good fun tho.

Okey dokey.... well I posted my book for 65p so that's £3.35 profit to play with :j

Didn't get time to go to charity shops though.... am wondering whether I might find something badly advertised on ebay, buy cheaply and resell for a profit! Its a long shot but I've heard of it being done :T

Will have a look tonight but... failing that... I'll pop to the charity shops tomorrow :D

I've just sold my Narnia card game set for £5.00. I have already invested that money by buying 2 Cherished Teddies for £5.00 (that included postage :D ).

I have already listed them so we will see how they do :j
