Mobile with bad credit
I am on a dmp with payplan and have been paying off my money for nearly 4 years. Ive had no credit since or tried to get any. I have a virgin media tv contract but that is it.
Would I have a chance of getting a mobile on contract or would my credit score just flash up as avoid? I was hoping to get one with Virgin but cant face them telling me on the phone I cant have a contract, should I just do it online and try my luck.
Only problem is if i get turned down could just be another mark against my name.
How stringent are the credit checks for a mobile, if its a case of being overdrawn or paying bills on time etc I should be ok
Thanks in advance

Try going on a sim only contract.
Orange have them, and basically it's a month by month contract with no handset. However, if you have it 90 days and your bills are all paid on time with no problems they will upgrade you to a contract. The have an easier acceptance rate and the three month period basically acts as a credit check.0 -
Thanks for that
There is a particular phone that I wanted, its only free on a £35 contract. really tempted to just try online but dont think its worth it
The option of getting a sim only for a bit is worth it, wouldnt virgin see that I have paid my tv bill for over 18 months with no problems, never been late etc0 -
If your still on the DMP don't even consider a contract, it will be considered new credit and your provider may stop handling your DMP. Mosr DMPs have a clause that you must NOT obtain any further credit, since if you default a contract your in debt it will be considered credit.
If you need a mobile go for PAYG and talk to your DMP provider about your choices.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
cheers
I suppose im fine with my current phone and pay as you go sim card. My gf has offered to get me a contract in her name and I just pay her for it. As i say i have been paying off my money for some years now and have learnt a massive lesson. Might just wait til ive paid it off until i try get a contract, at least ill have a lot more money then to pay the contract, could even pay for the phone outright in the first month lol0 -
