This light came on a few weeks ago on my 2006 renault megane convertable. I phoned arnold clark to book it in and was told there would be a £70 diagnostic test before they actually done anything.
I cancelled the appointment but was just wondering if any other garage would be able to fix this? Im a typical girl when it comes to things like this and have no idea of who to ask lol.

Also if I can take it to any garage does anyone know of any good garages in the glasgow area?

Blimey, £70?! Is 'arnold clark' a Renault garage? Most independant garages should be able to do this. My OH's garage charges £15 for a diagnostic test.

    Hi
yep £70 would be about right for a main dealer charge, but a non franchised garage should be able to do it cheaper, as long as they have the right equipment as not all have, yellow pages should be your friend here, don’t be afraid of calling many, explain what the problem is (air bag light on) and what you want, a diagnostic check and report of the fault.
They will either tell you they can’t do it or if they can confirm the cost.
Then take your pick cheapest is not always best, but calling them before hand will give you a feeling of how they will treat you and if they know their stuff? And want to help
    cheers dean.m
If i dont do it someone else will!

It's probably the connections under the front seat. Check nothing has come apart. Move the connectors around a bit, push them together. Could save a packet.
The diagnostic test will only tell you there is a fault on the airbag circuit-You already know that!

    I agree with this.

Light comes on on daughter's Clio.

Quick fiddle under the front edge of the front passenger seat and the light goes out.
    Happens every couple of months.

Can you just remove the bulb from behind the dash or does the MoT require the light to come on and then go off at switch on ?

It's not usually that simple to do it these days.
Also it's not included in MOT as far as I know.

The "bulb" will now be a surface mount LED.

Oh and remind me never to buy a used car from you! :rotfl:
