Nochex v Paypal?

FamilyGuy wrote:Hey,
I've been looking around for alternative methods of online payments for my customers, and came across one called Nochex. They seem like a good choice, and they due charge fees but not as high as Paypal.
I just wanted to know if anyone has used this, and if so would you recommend them?
Cheers, FG.
I use Nochex with no problems. As previous posters have said, a lot of Ebay buyers are seduced by Paypal but, it is possible to get them to use Nochex.
Things to note:-
1. If you tick the 'Paypal accepted' box when listing an item to sell, Ebay take this to mean you will be paid by Paypal. The buyer will be guided to the Paypal checkout, and any other methods you have are just ignored unless the buyer makes a conscious effort to avoid using Paypal.
2. If you don't tick the Paypal accepted box, you may find that potential buyers are put off because you item doesn't show as "Paypal protected". On the other hand, you will also deter rip-off buyers from bidding because they know that they won't be able to scam the money back from you once they have the item.
3. You can only accept payment via Nochex for UK credit cards. This will be a problem for any overseas buyers (if you have any) and so you will have to use Paypal (or something else) in these cases.
4. Add the "Nocheck checkout" code to the end of your item description. See http://help.nochex.com/esupport/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=94 and http://www.nochexcheckout.com/home/ for info. When the auction is over, the buyer can just click the button to pay via Nochex. I have found this to be really useful. By not ticking the Paypal accepted box, Ebay does not automatically guide the buyer to the Paypal checkout, and now the easiest way for the buyer to pay is to click on the Nochex checkout button. If they really want to pay via Paypal, you can do a request for payment via the Paypal website.
