    Thanks for the further replies.
It would be difficult to run another lot of cables from the dish to the downstairs tv .
I have had a look at sending HD content wirelessly but it appears to be very expensive.
The Freeview HD option would be the best way to go. Humax do a box for about £150 but it doesn't have a HDD so you cannot record progs on it.

As I said in post 2, the Humax Freeview HD PVR is coming in a few weeks time.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Yes the Freeview route appears to be my best option and the Humax would certainly be near the top of my list if it's priced right.

Hopefully I will have a bit more choice in a couple of weeks.

On a slight divergence, I love the world cup and all the hype about the HD coverage, sky rang me up the other night asking me if I wanted sky sports and sky sports HD added at discount due to the world cup coming up. When I replied I would rather clean the wax out of my ears with an ignited gas soldering iron than watch any football which I detest, they got very appologetic and I now have all movies and HD movies on a free trial until after the world cup. Bonus!!

  • Freeview HD PVRs should be arriving anytime. And Humax has announced that they will be releasing a firmware update on their box that will allow you to record through USB. :T

They are going to do the same for the Topfield but not so sure about recording via USB.

You could always trade in an old tv for a new Sony tv with built in Freeview HD!
