Ryanair - misspelt name

Hi, looking for some advice please.
Just booked tickets for Ryanair in July to Faro. As I was booking there webiste kept freezing and crashing. Eventually the booking went through, but when I got the email confirmation through, they have missed a letter out of my name (so now it wont match the name on my passport).
I have tried to call them to see if they can correct the problem, but have yet to get through to anyone.

I have heard bad stories about Ryanair charging £100 to change names, and so am wandering whether to just forget about the misspelt ticket and book a new one, or is it worth persevering trying to contact them. What I am worried about, is that they wont change it and then the prices will have gone up.
Any advice would be great
thanks

I think the issue is going to be about proof, you claim it was the website playing up that made an error in the name and ryanair will more than likely claim it was your error during input.

Ryanair charge £100 per name change, however you could try and ask nicely if they will change the one letter free, there have been off cases but i'd be amazed if this happens.

Personally I would book another ticket and accept the loss.

Ryanair will usually correct an obvious/ basic error for £10. However, I don't for a minute believe that this was a system glitch, and trying to pin the blame on them will probably lead to them telling you to pay the standard £100 charge.
    Gone ... or have I?

I have read on here that Ryanair are usually good at changing obvious errors, as opposed to complete name changes, without change.

Try the SayNoTo0870 website to see if you can find a cheaper alternative number for them.
  • I had the exact same problem with Easyjet, my first name was spelt wrong, I emailed them and they told me it would be rectified at the airport (at the check in desk) I had a bit of a palava but in the end it was changed free of charge.

I don't know how different Easyjet and Ryanairs policies are but if it was their error they need to rectify it. (I need to add that I am sure I booked this over the phone not on the net so this may have made a difference)

....or should that be that YOU missed the letter out ! A system glitch is highly unlikely to randomly drop a letter is it.

I think honesty is the best policy...when I worked in a predeparture tour ops role I would always waive the fee if people were nice and were honest, if they came on screaming and shouting about 'our' mistake then company policies would apply :-)

My husband, kids and I are flying RyanAir later this month. We have confirmations with the hyphen missing from our surname (which of course is on our passports), have checked with them and they say its fine but to be honest, im not 100% confident.

My GF's dad had Cavanagh instead of Kavanagh on his boarding pass and they didn't even blink.

I have surname with an apostrophe in it, and it never ever appears with any airline I've ever flown with on their tickets, and they never blink an eye when I turn up to check in.

ryanair will change obvious errors if you speak nicely on the phone.
I got mike changed to michael the other week when i made a stupid mistake.
Just be nice and polite on the phone and say you made a stupid mistake and all will be fine.
