Like a chump I managed to lose my Nokia N900 yesterday, it was on Vodafone and they are sending me out a new sim but I didn't have any insurance and having looked into my options looks like I'll have to fork out for a new phone.

Do Vodafone give the option to pay off the contract and take out a new one? As I want a N900 or Iphone it may work out a cheaper option for me...

All networks give you the option to buy out the contract. As long as they have the money for the minimum term, I can't see a reason why they would refuse.

Unfortunate that's the downside of having a high end phone, they are expensive to buy and replace. Did you ask them about buying a new phone off them? They may have refurb N900 or iphone going cheap for a one off costs?

Yes, do ask if you can buy a new one from them, sometimes they will sell them at cost price if you have no insurance.

There is no point in buying out your contract (no discount either), because the contract subsides the phone, you would be best either using a cheaper handset for the remainder of the contract.
You would be basically paying out for the cost of the phone, getting no service, so no benefit in doing it.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
