Waiting for Warmfront :(

Well, been onto them again, still not allocated but on the next batch to go. They said they are done in date order but it's the date they receive them not the date you were accepted for the scheme:mad: (ours was received on the 7th April).
They asked if we'd been to anybody else (didn't there were others). Don't know why that should make a difference.
I said that I knew allocation dates had been given for applications after ours but that doesn't matter!!!!!!!!
They told me to get onto Warmfront, which I did and they said more or less the same but they did get onto Fenhams and confirmed that ours was in the next batch! Don't know how long the batches take to go through. I bet ours has taken so long because the oil lot is a bigger grant. All due to how much money I suppose!0 -
Sounds like you dont have much longer to wait Lily, fingers crossed!0

I have just joined today to find out if there is anyone else like us. We were accepted on the 6th October 2009 and nothing has been done yet!
We found out today that our job hasn't been allocated either.
Like you Crystaltips we believed that it was 6 months from the day you were accepted but found out the same way as you that it was 6 months from allocation.
When the lady assessed us we were told that they weren't busy and it should be done fairly quickly. Our last electricity bill was just under £600 because we have to use electric for heating, we are living in a mobile home at the moment and it was very cold over the winter.
Another problem with us is that it's oil fired central heating and they seem to be finding that a problem. Don't know if it's because Ideal don't make oil fired boilers.
Hiya
The wait can be longer with oil central heating as it takes longer to install and their are less heating engineers qualified to install oil than there are to install gas. Also, the engineers that do install oil heating have to cover a much larger area, as it is mainly rural areas that have the need for oil heating, therefore, the engineers have to travel much further and the jobs take longer....
They wont have a problem finding a boiler for you - as i said in one of my previous posts, its simply a matter of waiting. I see many people each week who really need the heating and also hear back from them once it has been installed and see what a great job has been done. Unfortunately, everything that comes in grant form, comes with a waiting list. This is sometimes the reason why there are cancellations - people decide that they dont want to wait and find the funding themselves and hire a local contractor to do the work or British Gas. Nothing wrong with this, as if you have the money to pay for it yourself then that helps everyone else who does need the help to be seen quicker, and also for more people to get help. However, it is a bone of contension amongst many of the surveyors that so many people complain about the waiting lists and state that they dont see why they should have to wait etc etc yet they also dont (and in many cases wont) pay for it themselves.
Just a point that im not pointing the above at the OP or anyone else who is just enquiring on timescales, but to be honest, if someone said they were going to do my heating for free but that i could potentially be waiting 6 months/a year/ or whatever, id be happy because its saving me almost £4k!
As ive said in previous posts, my mum had hers done (through Fenhams actually) and they did a fabulous job and i can really recommend the contractors who came out. They worked quickly and tidyed up after themselves and were punctual and polite.
Nearly forgot......RE the timescales. It always was 6 months from being visited by the surveyor. Back end of last year, we realised that there was no way we'd be able to meet these timescales in all cases so letters were sent out to people who were waiting advising of longer timescales. This is probably why you werent told on your initial meeting with the surveyor.
Sounds like more is happening anyway now that you have been allocated an installer so fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and you'll be enjoying your new heating system in no time£2 Savers Club #156!
Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j0 -

Agreed Lisa, its a great scheme, but they do not make it clear enough that its 6 months' wait from allocation. This is the bone of contention. If they had told me that at the beginning i wouldnt be posting as i would have accepted the wait! They need to tell people that at the beginning. I moved 6 months ago, and havent unpacked properly as i was awaiting the heating installation within 6 months! People make plans and need to plan ahead, therefore they need to be told the length of wait.0
