Mobile Packages In Northern Ireland

Can anyone advise me of the best mobile package to go for in Northern Ireland.

I live in Co. Armagh and frequently find that when I’m travelling about the county that I’m transferred to the Republics network. And often in the Republic I find that I’m using the Northern network and this frequent jumping from network to network can be quite costly :(

As a matter of interest my brother lives well within the border and it depends what part of his home he’s standing in whether he’s on the Northern network or the Republican network – crazy.

Roaming charges in the border areas of Ireland – North and South are ridiculous, so what’s the best network to join in order to avoid these charges. At the moment I’m working with a Voadafone monthly contract.

You might get a better response in the Northern Ireland thread. I don't live in a border area myself, so don't encounter this problem, but there might be something you can do to help. Mobiles usually have a setting for which network to use. This is usually set to auto, and your phone will jump between permitted networks dependant on quality. If you can change it to manual, at which point it'll do a search and bring up a list of networks it finds, choose your own and it won't jump around so much. I'd love to know how much the networks make out of this 'false roaming', and they're all pan-European too.
