have i effed up?

was suprised tonight logging into ebay that my water damaged nokia currently stands at £5.01. this morning there was one bid at 99p

however i never stated that the blooming thing dont work. i just assumed that people would understand that water damaged meant dont work.

qwith less than 23 hours till itfinishes i cant revise the item.

what do i do?

leave it and send it to the winning bidder and hope they realised or inform the winning bidder that i didnt mention it dont work and refund money if they have paid and accept a neg?

  • I don't think you should assume that people will know that the phone doesn't work. If the item has more than 12 hours you can revise your auction listing.

    heh,

I've been here and done that

trust me, you need to write in BIG RED LETTERS that
    THIS PHONE DOES NOT WORK

    somewhere (just like that really)

even doing that i've still had paypal claims filed against me for 'not as described'

    some people
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

  • If there are more than 12 hours to go you can cancel the bids and end the auction. Just go to the drop down box beside the item in your selling list and select end item. It will ask you to enter a reason.........there was an error in the listing is usually a good one!

  • To be honest if I saw a phone advertised as water damaged I would think it was maybe stained or cosmetically damaged in some way...if it did not say that it did not work then I would assume that it did work!
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

  • I think you've done the right thing.

A potential buyer can't say they didn't know it didn't work now as you can't miss the red text on your listing.

  • I think you've handled the situation well, Anthillmob. People do seem to paying money for non-functioning damaged phones.
I'd probably send a message to the underbidder too, just in case they were planning to put in another bid.
  • I've washed my nokia twice (60 degrees hours and a hlaf cycle!) and it still works. Have you tried taking it to bits and leaving it in the airing cupboard for a few days, that what my husband always does!
