I see google have again changed their home page so that when you click on search you get a lefthand side bar with various options. I don't like it but can't delete it. It seems from googling it a few others are having a problem. Any suggestions how to get rid of it? I just like the full page searches list to appear without this.

I tried googling 'removing google sidebar', and....

    Does this help?

I saw that but unfortunately they don't seem to have an option for internet explorer yet. Hopefully so many people seem to dislike it they may give an option just to switch it off if you don't like it.

Yeah, I don't like it either the new look isn't that bad but the side column is awful, surely they could of displayed the pages without it visible and the option for the user to view it after their search.

I've tried other search engines in the past but have always went back to google, because i don't want my search results to crowded, just the results visible pure and simple.

At least for me the firefox plugin doesn't seem to work.

I hate the new search result screen, so much so I'm thinking of defecting!

There's quite a few changes to adjust to with the new Google redesign - personally the first time I landed on it unaware I thought I was on one of those parked domain landing type pages where the whole page is just full of sponsored ads/links, but it was actually the official Google web results.

Will certainly take some getting used to.

Just found a way to get back to the basic style. Set http://www.google.co.uk/webhp?hl=all as your home page. Now just need to find how to get pages from the UK back!

Fantastic - thanks Claire. I gave up looking for 'how to remove everything sidebar' amoungst all the abuse and 'we hate this' posts.

Your link works like a charm and stops the ajax auto-complete calls too boot. Nice :-)
